Hagel Urges Candidates to Stop Arguing Over Troop Surge

http://elections.foxnews.com

OMAHA, Neb. — Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel, fresh from an Iraq trip with Democrat Barack Obama, said the presidential candidates should focus on the war’s future and stop arguing over the success of last year’s troop surge.

Hagel mentioned both candidates, but his comments seemed directed at Republican John McCain. McCain, while Obama traveled the Middle East, attacked Obama for opposing the military escalation last year that increased security in Iraq.

Obama Cancels Visit to U.S. Troops in Germany

http://elections.foxnews.com

Barack Obama’s campaign said Thursday that the Illinois senator opted not to visit U.S. troops at military facilities in Germany because it would be “inappropriate” to make such a stop on the campaign-funded leg of his trip.

The German magazine Der Spiegel reported earlier that Obama canceled a visit to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, a military hospital in Germany, and the Ramstein Air Base.

The report came as Obama prepared to speak to thousands at a high-profile address in Berlin.

http://elections.foxnews.com

If you vote by mail, but die before Election Day, does your vote count? It depends on where you lived.

Oregon counts ballots no matter what happens to the voter. So does Florida. But in South Dakota, if you die before the election, so does your vote.

Increasingly popular mail-in ballots mean voters can now choose candidates up to 60 days before an election, raising new questions about an age-old phenomenon normally associated with chicanery in places like Chicago: What should be done with the ballots of the recently dead?

By Ernie Paicopolos

As Barack Obama travels abroad, Americans seem to think most members of the media are in line with his message, according to the latest FOX News poll.

McCotter Op Ed in German Paper Questions Obama’s Approach to Liberty

http://elections.foxnews.com

House Republican Policy Chairman Thaddeus McCotter on Thursday attacked Barack Obama for his use of a “pragmatic populist approach to the advancement of human liberty.”

In an op-ed article for the Berlin-based German newspaper, Die Welt, McCotter, writing in German, said it is ironic Obama would speak in Berlin about the relationship between the U.S. and Europe when he has yet to grasp the fundamental bond that constitutes that relationship.
